WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace College had its sights set on a third straight win over a Top 25 ranked opponent when it hosted the No. 15 ranked Spring Arbor University men's basketball team on Tuesday night.
The Lancers entered the contest fresh off wins over No. 9 Bethel and No. 17 Saint Francis, but Paul Marandet and Brandon Durnell had other plans, combining for 55 points and leading the Cougars to a big road victory, defeating Grace 74-67.
Marandet went 12-for-18 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line on his way to a game-high 32 points. Durnell finished with 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grace shot a blistering 68 percent (17-for-25) in the first half and made seven 3-pointers, but was only able to take a two point lead into halftime, 41-39.
- Spring Arbor trailed by seven, 48-41, in the early moments of the second half before Marandet took over, scoring 12 unanswered points to put the Cougars in front for good.
- A late 3-pointer brought the Lancers within three, 70-67, with 49 seconds remaining. However, Marandet would put the game away at the charity stripe going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Marandet scored 20 of 32 points in the second half to lead the comeback. It was his third 30-point performance of the season.
- Jeff Beckman added seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds while Denver Cade chipped in five points off the bench.
- Spring Arbor connected on 56 percent (31-for-55) of its field goal attempts.
- The Cougars outscored Grace in the paint, 44-24.
FOR THE LANCERS
- Jaret Sons posted 14 points and nine rebounds. Myles Johnson and Charlie Warner added 13 points apiece.
- After shooting 68 percent in the first half, the Lancers were held to 40 percent shooting in the second half.
