Marshalls combine for 4 goals in win over Taylor

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's soccer team won its fifth straight match on Wednesday night, cruising past Taylor University 4-0 at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Lauren Marshall and Madison Marshall scored two goals apiece to lead the way as the Cougars improved their overall and Crossroads League record to 5-1-1.

Over the course of the team's five-match winning streak, the Cougars have outscored their opponents 24-0.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Ariana Stoltzfus scored in the 35th minute.
  • The Cougars broke the game wide open in the second half, scoring five times over the final 45 minutes. Mackenzie Selvius put SAU on top 2-0 with her goal in the 59th minute, but back-to-back goals by Lauren Marshall in a span of four minutes put the game out of reach. Madison Marshall capped the scoring, converting on a penalty kick in the 78th minute before ripping a one-timer on a bouncing ball from outside the 18-yard box past the goalkeeper in the 86th minute.
  • Spring Arbor outshot Taylor 16-10 on the night.
  • Samantha Tracey, the reigning Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week, made seven saves in the shutout. The clean sheet was her fifth of the season, and she has not allowed a goal in 450 minutes of action.
