SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – In a battle between two of the top teams in the Crossroads League, it was No. 24 ranked Spring Arbor University that defeated No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan University 2-1 on Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
Madison Marshall scored the go-ahead goal with less than four minutes remaining to lift the Cougars to their sixth straight victory.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor struck first, finding the back of the net just over three minutes into the match. A shot from Lexi Ponstein was saved but Mackenzie Selvius was right there to clean up the rebound and record her team-best ninth goal of the season.
- The Cougars held the lead through 80 minutes of action, however Indiana Wesleyan capitalized on a free kick opportunity in the 82nd minute to level the match. Emily Carter served a long ball to the back post where Lauren Turner was able to put a head on it and beat Samantha Tracey. The goal was the first surrendered by SAU since Sept. 19 – also against IWU.
- Spring Arbor showed its resilience and answered almost immediately. An IWU foul led to a free kick that Becca Mindling delivered into the box. The ball was flicked on by Selvius to an open Marshall, and her shot beat the IWU goalkeeper just inside the near post.
- Indiana Wesleyan finished with a slight shot advantage, 12-10.
- Tracey finished the night with three saves.
