Notter reaches 1,000 career assists

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University setter Hope Notter became the newest member of the program's 1,000 assist club in the Cougars' match against Bethel University on Friday.

Notter entered the night needing only nine assists to reach the milestone, but finished with a match-high 23.

The Cougars would ultimately fall 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17) to the Pilots. Prior to the match, SAU held a Senior Night ceremony for two seniors, Emily Martin and Paige Porter, recognizing them for their contributions to the program over the last four years.

Spring Arbor played its second match in as many days on Saturday, dropping a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-19) decision at the University of Saint Francis.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Three Cougars recorded double-digit kills. McKenna Peters and Alison Ford had 12 apiece while Macey Rupp finished with 10.
  • Notter totaled 23 assists and picked up 12 digs, and Martin added 18 assists with nine digs.
  • Porter anchored the defense with a team-best 21 digs while Sarah Chastain ended the night with 10.
  • Bethel's Payton Hart posted a team-leading nine kills while Madyson Beaver and Caroline Mullett combined for 33 assists. The Pilot's, who lead the nation in blocking, totaled 23 blocks on the night, including 11 from Maddy Payne.

  • Notter had 25 assists in the match. Ford and Alison Nibbelink registered eight and seven kills, respectively.
  • Porter scooped up nine digs, bringing her to 996 for her career. Frances Churchwell also had nine digs.
  • Saint Francis was led by Eliana Serdynski's 10 kills while Maria Pelak dished out 36 assists.

 
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor's match at Marian scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2 was canceled. The Cougars will travel to Grace College on Wednesday, Nov. 4 and close out the regular season at Huntington University on Saturday, Nov. 7.
