SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Anne Marie Wright became the 23rd player in Spring Arbor University women's basketball history to eclipse 1,000 career points on Saturday as she scored a team-high 16 points in a 66-46 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Wright entered the contest needing just two points to reach the milestone, and wasted little time getting there, scoring the Cougars' first points of the game – a 3-pointer – to surpass the 1,000 point plateau.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wright put Spring Arbor on the board with her opening 3-pointer, and gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead at the 7:18 mark of the first quarter.
- Wright was a big factor in the first half, scoring eight of the Cougars' first nine points, and finishing the first 20 minutes with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
- Spring Arbor only trailed by one, 25-24, with 1:05 to play before halftime, but Mount Vernon Nazarene closed the period with eight straight points to take a 33-24 advantage into the locker room.
- MVNU carried that momentum into the third quarter, quickly building a double-digit lead. The visitors would maintain the cushion throughout the second half.
FOR SPRING ARBOR
- In addition to reaching 1,000 points, Wright continued to close in on another milestone. With her four 3-pointers, the junior from Eaton Rapids now has 215 career 3-pointers – just three away from the SAU program record of 218 established by Aimee Konkel from 2012-17.
- Teona Feldpausch nearly registered another double-double after notching nine points and 10 rebounds. Gracie Cabana finished with eight points and seven boards while Grace Shoobridge hauled in 12 rebounds and dished out five assists.
FOR MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
- Mount Vernon Nazarene was led by 19 points and 13 rebounds from Taylor Gregory while Maggie Coe posted 18 points.
- MVNU shot 39 percent (27-for-69) on the afternoon.
