SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team fell in its final game of the regular season 72-58 to No. 10 University of Saint Francis on Saturday inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
The Cougars ended the regular season eighth in the league standings and will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament, which is slated to begin Tuesday, Feb. 25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a 3-point barrage in the first quarter as the two teams combined to knock down 10 shots from behind the arc, including one by Gracie Cabana in the final seconds to give Spring Arbor a 22-18 lead after the first 10 minutes.
- The Cougars' hot-shooting from the first period cooled down in the second going just 2-for-12 from the field. Saint Francis continued to pour in shots from long range, hitting five more three's to grab a 40-28 lead at halftime.
- After trailing by as much as 20 in the third quarter, Spring Arbor battled back to get within eight, 54-46, with 6:39 remaining in the contest. Saint Francis put a halt to the SAU run, however, by scoring 11 straight points.
FOR SPRING ARBOR
- Anne Marie Wright had a team-high 16 points while Grace Shoobridge and Cierra Lipps finished with 12 points apiece.
- In addition to her 12 points, Shoobridge grabbed 12 rebounds to record her 10th double-double of the season.
- Spring Arbor finished shooting 40 percent (21-for-52) from the field.
- The Cougars out-rebounded Saint Francis 33-26.
FOR SAINT FRANCIS
- Savannah Buck led the way for Saint Francis with 17 points and six assists. Lauren McBryar chipped in 15 points.
- USF shot 48 percent (25-for-52) on the afternoon and went 15-for-33 from 3-point range.
UP NEXT
The Crossroads League Tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 25. Spring Arbor will be the No. 8 seed for the tournament and will face off against the regular season league champions, and No. 3 ranked, Marian University (27-3, 16-2 CL) in Indianapolis starting at 7 p.m.
