Baseball wins fourth straight

ADRIAN, Mich. – Fresh off a conference series win, the Spring Arbor University baseball kept the momentum going Wednesday, defeating Siena Heights University 8-6 for its fourth straight victory.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor wasted no time, pushing across the game's first run in the top of the first inning. Brant Mast led off with a triple and scored on an RBI groundout by Jackson Kitchen.
  • The score was tied 2-2 after five innings, but Landon Raczkowski put SAU back on top in the sixth with a two-run bomb – his third of the season. Later in the inning, the Cougars capitalized on a Siena Heights miscue, adding two more runs to stretch the lead to 6-2.
  • Trailing 8-5 entering the last of the ninth, Siena Heights was able to scratch a run across and load the bases, but Vincent Herschberger escaped the jam to earn his third save of the season.
  • Brandon Haynes went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Raczkowski collected two hits and drove in two while Kitchen scored twice.
  • Joey McCowen got the start on the mound and worked two scoreless innings. Brant Mullins picked up the win, tossing two innings allowing one run and striking out two.
 

UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will head to Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend to take on the University of Saint Francis in a four-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 12 starting at 1 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 13 starting at 1 p.m.
