GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at host Cornerstone University on Friday. The Cougars fell 11-3 in the opener and 7-5 in the nightcap.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Cornerstone led 4-0 after two innings, but Abbie Funk put Spring Arbor on the board in the third inning with an RBI double. Sarah Matlock followed with a base hit to bring home Funk, cutting the deficit to two, 4-2.
- The Cougars were unable to slow down the Cornerstone offense, however. The Golden Eagles were able to score in every inning, including four runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
- Funk finished with two hits and a run scored to lead the way for SAU while Jessie Panchaud and Kaitlynne Allen also scored.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- A two-RBI double by Panchaud in the second inning put Spring Arbor on top 2-1.
- Cornerstone jumped in front, 5-3, after plating four runs in the third inning, but SAU responded with two runs in the fourth to tie the score. Panchaud delivered again, this time an RBI triple before scoring herself on a CU error.
- The home team pushed a run across in the bottom of the fourth inning, and added an insurance run in the sixth, to secure the win.
- Panchaud was 3-for-3 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Marisa Morgan finished with two hits while Abbey Lafler scored twice.
