FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team split a twinbill with the University of Saint Francis on Tuesday afternoon. Behind a five-run sixth inning, the Cougars defeated Saint Francis 6-3 in the opener, but fell 8-0 in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor trailed 2-1 heading into the sixth inning, but erupted for five runs in the frame to take control of the game. Abbie Funk got the scoring started with an RBI single, and would later score as well in the inning. A Saint Francis error allowed another run to cross the plate before a sacrifice fly from Emmalee Hamp brought Jessie Panchaud home. Jade Nowe capped the inning with a single to left to score Cora Millay.
- Hamp, who got the start in the circle, shut down Saint Francis over the final two innings to secure the win. The freshman pitcher tossed all seven innings allowing only two earned runs on three hits while striking out eight batters.
- Hamp also went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Nowe finished with two RBI's and Funk scored twice.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Saint Francis got on the board early with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.
- The home team added four more runs in the third, and would score three more over the next two frames to put the game out of reach.
- Millay picked up two of SAU's five hits in the game and had one stolen base.
