SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team split a pair of games with visiting Bethel University on Tuesday. The Cougars fell 3-1 in game two but bounced back and took game two 6-5.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Bethel scored three runs over the first three innings, and that would be all of the offense the Pilots needed.
- Spring Arbor rallied in the sixth. The Cougars scored once on an RBI single by Jade Nowe, but were unable to push anymore runs across the plate.
- Cora Millay was 3-for-3, including a triple.
- Kelsey Sturgeon started in the circle and pitched four innings allowing three runs and striking out three. Elena Jones worked three scoreless innings of relief and fanned three batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Bethel struck first again in game two with two runs in the top of the first inning, but Spring Arbor answered with four unanswered runs over the next four innings to grab a 4-2 lead.
- The Pilots made it a 4-3 game with a run in the top of the sixth, but SAU added two big insurance runs in the home half of the frame on RBI hits by Millay and Nowe.
- Millay scored three times in the game. Sarah Matlock and Nowe had two hits apiece while Matlock drove in a pair of runs.
- Hannah Laurin pitched a complete game in the win allowing five runs on eight hits over seven innings of work.
