SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team split a doubleheader with Taylor University on Tuesday at the Cougar Softball Field. The Cougars shut out Taylor 5-0 in game one behind an excellent pitching performance by
Emmalee Hamp, but the Trojans battled back to win game two 3-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Cora Millay scored on a double steal.
- That was how the score stayed until the fifth inning when the Cougars pushed two more runs across. Millay drove in Chloe Gignac with a base hit to center field, and would come around to score on a double by Hamp. SAU would add two more in the sixth to increase the margin to 5-0.
- Hamp, the reigning NAIA National Player of the Week, continued her torrid streak at the plate collecting three more hits and an RBI. Millay added two RBI's and scored twice.
- Hamp also pitched a complete game shutout allowing just six hits and striking out four batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Taylor led 2-0 after three innings, but Spring Arbor got one run back in the fourth.
- The Trojans scored in the fifth to push the lead back to two, 3-1.
- Spring Arbor brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but the visitors escaped with the win to avoid the two-game sweep.
- Sarah Matlock and Millay had two apiece while Matlock scored the only SAU run.
