TROY, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University bowling programs kicked off the 2021-22 season at the Rochester University Warrior Fall Classic on Saturday.
The SAU men's team finished fourth out of 14 teams while the women's squad placed fourth in a 12-team field.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
- The Spring Arbor men's team finished the four team games and four Baker sets with a total of 6761 pins.
- The women's team collected 6193 pins. In addition to the varsity team, the Cougars had two JV teams compete with one of them finishing second in the team standings with 6237 pins.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Shane Hill was the top performer on the men's side for Spring Arbor. The senior finished third out of 86 bowlers with 854 pins, including a high-game of 244. Freshman Cade Ichinose also landed in the top-10 in seventh place with 837 pins, averaging a 209 over his four games bowled.
- Freshman Montana Hernandez earned third place overall on the women's side with a score of 765 over four games. Samantha Dwight and Emily Vanderburg finished in the top-20 with totals of 688 and 687, respectively.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS
- Bowling Green State University took home the men's team title, edging out Concordia University by 28 pins, 6977-6949.
- The individual winner on the men's side was Stephan Strzalkowski from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He ended the event with 865 pins – only 11 more than SAU's Shane Hill, who finished third.
- Madonna University women's team earned first place with 6537. The Crusaders also had the top individual, Emily Gurin, who posted a four-game score of 835.
