Women’s Soccer opens league play with win at Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The No. 4 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team opened Crossroads League play on Saturday with a convincing 5-0 win over Huntington University.

The win extended Spring Arbor's streak to six while also recording the team's sixth consecutive shutout.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor scored early and often against Huntington. Madison Marshall scored her first of two goals just over four minutes into the match to give SAU an early lead. The Cougars would extend their lead in the 16th minute as Mackenzie Selvius put away a penalty kick for her team-best fifth goal of the season, and just before halftime freshman Shelby Marshall recorded her first career goal.
  • Marshall registered her second goal of the afternoon in the opening moments of the second half and Ariana Stoltzfus capped the scoring with a goal in the 51st minute.
  • Spring Arbor outshot Huntington 31-2 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The shutout was the sixth of the year for the Cougars.
