Madonna uses big second half to defeat Men’s Basketball

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team put five players in double figures but were unable to overcome a big second half by Madonna University in a 99-77 setback on Wednesday evening.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor trailed Madonna 34-28 with 7:23 remaining in the first half, but the Crusaders used a 16-3 run over the next four minutes to stretch the margin to 19, 50-31.
  • The Cougars clawed their way back over the next three minutes and closed the gap to eight, 52-44, heading into halftime. Eli White had five straight points to start the run and Kyle Hamlin added four in the final minute of the period.
  • Madonna came out of the break strong, outscoring SAU 24-11 over the first 10 minutes of the second stanza to break the game open.
  • White finished with a team-best 14 points while four other Cougars also finished in double figures. Austin Braun had 13 points and five assists and Kevyn Robertson added 11 points while Gabe Newhof and Travis Grayson added 10 points apiece.
  • Newhof also hauled in 13 rebounds to record his fourth double-double of the campaign.
  • Madonna's Brendan Young had 24 points and Henry Speight had 23.
