SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team posted a dominant 88-61 victory over the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.
Alana Nelson led the way with 24 points while
Emma Smieska added a season-high 17.
Grace Shoobridge recorded her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cougars have won two in a row, and four of their last five, as they improve to 8-4 on the season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first quarter was back-and-forth, seeing multiple lead changes.
- Spring Arbor trailed 21-20 early in the second quarter, but back-to-back buckets from Nelson and Natalie Shellberg put the Cougars in front and they would never surrender the lead.
- The Cougars took a 45-37 advantage into halftime, but broke the game open late in the third quarter with a 9-0 scoring run.
- Nelson led all scorers with 24 points – her fifth 20-point performance of the season.
- Three other Cougars reached double figures, including Smieska, who finished with a season-best 17 points and seven rebounds. Shoobridge had a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards while Alex Long had 11 points. Alize Tripp totaled eight points, four assists and three steals.
- Spring Arbor outscored Michigan-Dearborn 58-24 in the paint and dominated the glass with a 45-31 advantage in rebounds.
