Women’s Basketball grabs third straight win

ALBION, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team picked up its third straight win after going on the road and defeating Albion College 60-54 on Monday night.
 
Alana Nelson, the reigning Crossroads League Player of the Week, registered her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the way while Alex Long added in 15 points.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor continued its winning ways Monday night, defeating local rival Albion for its third consecutive victory, and the team's fifth win in its last six games.
  • Albion held its largest lead of the evening, 37-33, towards the end of the third quarter, the Cougars would end the period on an 11-4 run – capped off by back-to-back buckets from Grace Shoobridge – and SAU would never trail again.
  • Long and Cierra Lipps opened the fourth quarter with a pair of 3-pointers, and a layup from Nelson stretched SAU's lead to eight, 52-44, with 5:26 to play.
  • Albion closed the gap to four with just over three minutes remaining, but Daelynn Jackson answered with a triple to help clinch the win.
  • Nelson posted a game-high 19 points to go along with 13 rebounds and three assists. Long followed with 15 points and nine rebounds while Alize Tripp finished with 11 points, nine boards and four assists.
  • Spring Arbor finished with a 61-41 advantage in rebounds. The Cougars also held the Britons to 15 percent (2-for-13) shooting behind the arc.
