Cougars hit the century mark in victory over Grace Christian

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team won its fourth straight game Wednesday, defeating Grace Christian University 102-52 inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
 
The 102 points were a season-high for the Cougars, and the most since putting up 99 against the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the 2005-06 season.
 
Alize Tripp poured in a season-best 23 points while Alana Nelson registered a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor outscored Grace Christian 37-15 in the first quarter – the most points scored in any quarter this season for the Cougars. Alex Long fueled the scoring outburst with 12 points going 4-for-5 from 3-point range.
  • The Cougars' defense held the visiting Tigers to 3-for-14 shooting in the second quarter on the way to building a commanding 58-23 halftime lead, and SAU cruised to its fourth straight win.
  • Tripp posted a season-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Nelson recorded her second straight double-double – and her sixth of the campaign – with 21 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out four assists. Long finished with 17 points and five assists. Emma Smieska scored 11 points off the bench and had three steals.
  • Spring Arbor shot 48 percent from the floor and limited Grace Christian to just 29 percent shooting. The Cougars dominated the glass, outrebounding the visitors 63-34.
