Baseball drops DH contests to split series with USF

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against the University of Saint Francis on Monday at Hank Burbridge Field.
 
The Cougars fell 11-5 in game one and suffered a 6-3 setback in game two. However, SAU still split the conference series after winning both games against Saint Francis on Thursday.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Saint Francis led 3-1 after four innings of play before plating three run in the fifth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh and three more in the eighth to take control.
  • Peyton Harding was 2-for-3 at the plate while Evan Lorey drove in a pair of runs.
 
 
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Saint Francis grabbed an early lead in game two with two runs in the first inning. The visitors would tack on another run in the fourth to increase its advantage to 3-0.
  • Spring Arbor tied the score with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on RBI singles by Harding and Lorey.
  • Saint Francis was able to capitalize for three runs on two SAU errors in the fifth inning and held on to complete the doubleheader sweep.
  • Harding stayed hot at the plate with two more hits while Lorey also recorded two hits and two RBI's.
  • Cade Kontny suffered the loss on the mound pitching four innings and surrendering five runs on five hits. Trammell Lindstrom worked three innings out of the bullpen giving up one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts.
