MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team took down No. 15 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University 2-1 in extra innings in game one of its doubleheader on Friday.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Cougars battled back to tie the game and eventually plate the game-winning run in the 10th inning.
The two teams were in another close battle in game two of the twinbill, but this time it was IWU that came away with the victory, 7-6.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Indiana Wesleyan led 1-0 through five innings before a double by Peyton Harding allowed Bryce Richey to score and even the game in the sixth.
- That was how the score stayed until the 10th inning when Brant Mast scored on a sacrifice fly by Ben Redfield.
- Jon Williams limited the 15th ranked Wildcats to only one run on two hits over six innings pitched while striking out five batters. Cade Kontny pitched the final four frames on his way to earning the win. Kontny surrendered only two hits and fanned five.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Wildcats pulled out in front 5-1 after the fourth inning, but Spring Arbor responded with four runs in the fifth on RBI doubles by Redfield and Richey to tie the score.
- IWU scratched across a run in the home half of the fifth, and added another in the sixth to retake the lead.
- The Cougars scored once in the seventh to cut into the deficit, but left two runners on to end the game.
- Richey went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Redfield finished going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI's.
- Hunter Nielsen suffered the loss allowing six runs on seven hits over four innings of work.
