SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Sophomore
Emmalee Hamp threw a complete game shutout to lead the Spring Arbor University softball team past Huntington University 4-0 in game one of Tuesday's Crossroads League doubleheader.
The Foresters squeaked by the Cougars, 4-3, in game two to split the twinbill.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Hamp tossed her Crossroads League-leading 11th complete game of the season to help guide Spring Arbor to the win. The sophomore pitcher blanked Huntington over seven innings while giving up only three hits and striking out two batters.
- The Cougars provided Hamp with all the run support she would need with a run in the second inning. Maddy Thrush delivered a two-out, RBI double to bring home Chloe Gignac.
- Spring Arbor got another run in the third inning on an RBI single by Sarah Matlock, and scored twice in the sixth.
- In addition to her performance in the circle, Hamp went 3-for-4 at the plate. Abbie Funk also collected three hits and stole two bases.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Huntington held a 3-0 advantage through three innings, but a two-RBI double by MacKenzie Collins in the fourth inning helped SAU close the gap.
- The Foresters tacked on a key insurance run in the fifth to widen the margin back to two, 4-2.
- Spring Arbor would score once in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI single by Hamp, but stranded the tying run on base.
- Hamp continued to swing a hot bat picking up two more hits.
- Kelsey Sturgeon was hit with the loss after giving up three runs over 2.1 innings pitched. Elena Jones was outstanding out of the pen, surrendering only one unearned run in 4.2 innings of work.
