SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team dropped both ends of its doubleheader against No. 18 ranked Marian University on Friday.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Marian strung together five consecutive hits and scored four runs in the second inning.
  • That was all the run support Knights pitcher Olivia Stunkel needed as she shut out Spring Arbor over five innings allowing one hit.
  • Emmalee Hamp allowed five runs on nine hits over four innings pitched.
 
 
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Marian struck early again in game two, plating three runs in the first inning.
  • Once again, Marian's pitching staff was able to silence the SAU offense, posting a second straight shutout.
  • Abbey Lafler went 2-for-3 at the plate and Maddie Gillett recorded a double to reach safely for the second straight game.
  • Elena Jones pitched all seven innings and limited one of the nation's top teams to only three runs after the first inning while finishing the afternoon with five strikeouts.
