WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Spring Arbor University starting pitchers
Elena Jones and
Emmalee Hamp combined to strike out 11 and allow just three runs on eight hits over 13 innings of work en route to splitting Friday's doubleheader against Grace College.
Jones and the Cougars were edged 2-1 in game one before Hamp led SAU to a 3-1 bounce back win in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- A first inning sacrifice fly gave Grace an early 1-0 lead.
- The Lancers held their 1-0 lead until the sixth inning when Spring Arbor pushed a run across to tie the score. Jessie Panchaud led off the frame with a double and later scored on a base hit by Maddie Gillett.
- Grace answered with a run of its own in the home half of the inning to retake the lead, 2-1.
- Jones pitched all six innings and surrendered only one earned run on five hits while striking out six batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor jumped on top with a first inning run in game two. Panchaud reached base to open the contest and, three batters later, came around to score on a base hit by Kelsey Sturgeon.
- Sturgeon drove Panchaud home again in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to double the SAU lead.
- That was all the run support Hamp needed as the sophomore standout pitched seven outstanding innings giving up only one run on three hits while fanning five.
