GOSHEN, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team suffered a pair of setbacks against Goshen College on Saturday.
Spring Arbor took a late lead in game one but Goshen scored seven runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 10-4 win. The Cougars were unable to bounce back in game two, falling to the Maple Leafs 3-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor trailed Goshen 3-1 after five innings, but rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth to grab a 4-3 advantage. Marisa Morgan drew a bases loaded walk to bring in the first run before Jessie Panchaud delivered a two-RBI single to put SAU on top.
- The Maple Leafs answered with seven runs in the bottom half of the sixth, including a Mia Pawelski grand slam.
- Panchaud and Elaina Walker had two hits apiece to lead the Cougar offense.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Goshen plated one run in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead.
- Spring Arbor cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning when Maddie Gillett scored on a base hit by Maddy Thrush. But, that was as close as the Cougars would get.
- Thrush was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.
- Emmalee Hamp pitched all six innings allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
