MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team picked up two key wins on Tuesday, taking both ends of a doubleheader against Bethel University.
The Cougars blew past the Pilots with a 10-2 win in game one and a 10-0 shutout in game two.
The wins moved SAU into eighth place in the Crossroads League standings and in position to clinch a spot in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor jumped on top with two runs in the first inning, but broke the game open with a six spot in the second inning.
- The Cougars added a run in the third and fourth innings to bring the mercy rule into effect.
- Emmalee Hamp was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Maddie Gillett collected three RBI's while Jessie Panchaud recorded an RBI and scored twice.
- Elena Jones pitched all five innings allowing only one earned run on four hits while striking out three batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Cougars continued to swing the bats well, pounding out 10 runs on 16 hits in game two to complete the sweep.
- Kelsey Sturgeon registered three hits with two RBI's and a run scored. Hamp, Gillett and Maddy Thrush had two hits apiece while Thrush drove in three. Jade Nowe also blasted her second home run of the season.
- Hamp turned in a complete game, two-hit shutout in the circle while fanning eight batters.

Spring Arbor closes out the regular season at home against Taylor University on Saturday, Apr. 30. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
