FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team split two matches on the final day of the Onset Invitational.
 
The Cougars opened with a 3-1 victory over Lawrence Tech before falling to Indiana University East in three sets.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman Kendall Bollenbacher had a match-high 15 kills to lead Spring Arbor to its third straight win to start the season. McKenna Peters added nine while Kelsie Lilly and Sarah Eliason followed with seven each.
• Hayden Fortress handed out 22 assists while adding two aces and nine digs. Kenady Cox recorded a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs.
• Emily Johnson finished with four aces.
• Abigail Fernihough made a big impact at the net with seven blocks while Frances Churchwell anchored the defense with a team-best 21 digs.

• Indiana East, which improved to a perfect 4-0 to start the season, handed the Cougars their first setback.
• Peters posted six kills with Fernihough and Bollenbacher recording five apice.
• Cox and Fortress combined for 21 assists.
• Churchwell picked up 18 digs and Johnson was credited with 12.

Spring Arbor will travel to Upland, Indiana next weekend for the Taylor University Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament. The Cougars will play Lawrence Tech and Concordia University on Friday, Aug. 26 before taking on Thomas More University and Clarke University on Saturday, Aug. 27.
