SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team kicked off the 2023 season in impressive fashion on Saturday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The Cougars scored four goals in the first 40 minutes on their way to a 5-2 victory over Cleary University.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor started fast with Cunha finding the back of the net just over six minutes into the contest.
- Cleary evened the score after converting a penalty kick in the 10th minute, but SAU regained the just moments later. Back-to-back goals by Al-Rashed in the 13th and 17th minutes put the Cougars in front for good.
- Cunha's second tally of the night in the 40th minute gave the home team a 4-1 advantage.
- The visitors cut the deficit in half early in the second half, but that was as close as they would get. The Cougars added a goal late when Cunha's cross was redirected by a Cleary defender into their own goal.
- Al-Rashed and Cunha finished with two goals and one assist each. Rood Schnaider and Guilherme Micaelo were also credited with assists.
- Spring Arbor outshot Cleary 14-10 on the night and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
