Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball falls to Huntington in three sets

SPRING ARBOR, MI – Volleyball has had to fight all season, and Wednesday night, they faced another battle with the Foresters from Huntington. The two squads were deadlocked in the standings at 5th place in the Crossroads, and this matchup could prove to be critical for future conference tournament positioning.

In set one, the Foresters came storming out of the gates to a 9-0 lead. However, the Cougars came roaring right back with a 8-0 run of their own to trim the deficit to one. The teams were back and forth for a little bit, eventually coming to a deadlock at 14 all after a 5-0 run led by a pair of Julia Mitchell kills, a block from Mitchell and Kelsie Lilly, and a kill from Isabelle Kirkendall.  From there however, it was almost all Huntington, as they finished out on a 11-5 run, and took the set 25-19.

In set two, the teams traded the lead five times, but the Foresters had the last laugh, getting the lead back and winning the set 25-23 after losing the lead late, as a Cougar 5-0 run gave them a 23-22 advantage that they could not hold.

Set three was controlled by Huntington pretty much the whole way. The Cougars made it interesting late, trimming a 10 point deficit to 4, with a 8-2 run, but it wasn't enough. The Foresters staved off that rally, and took the set 25-20 to win the match, 3-0.
