SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team took two games from Taylor University on Tuesday afternoon at the Cougar Softball Field. The Cougars blanked the Trojans 8-0 in the opener and scored five unanswered runs in the late innings to rally to a 6-4 victory in the night cap.
Spring Arbor has now won 10 of its last 11 contests and improved its record to 25-12 on the year with a 17-7 mark in Crossroads League play.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Emmalee Hamp continued her torrid streak at the plate, blasting a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning to put SAU up 1-0 early.
- Spring Arbor led 2-0 after four innings before plating six runs in the fifth to enforce the mercy rule.
- Hamp, the reigning Crossroads League Player of the Week, was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Summer Ambler finished with two hits and two runs scored.
- Hamp earned her 14th win of the season in the circle after authoring a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Taylor grabbed a 4-1 lead following a three-run third inning.
- The Cougars began clawing their way back with two runs in the fifth. Matajia Cerroni drew a bases loaded walk and Lexi Cain followed with an RBI single to make it a 4-3 game.
- A three-run sixth inning put Spring Arbor in front. A single by Maddy Thrush allowed Grace Lentz and Ambler to cross the plate. Two batters later, Payton Grange delivered a clutch, two-out hit to drive in Thrush.
- Taylor brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Hamp, who entered in relief in the third inning, dashed any hopes of a comeback with a strikeout to end the game.
- Lentz went 3-for-4 while Thrush, Grange and Cerroni collected two hits apiece.
- Hamp secured her second win of the day after pitching 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.
