SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team split a pair of games with Indiana Wesleyan University on Thursday at Hank Burbridge Field.
Behind big time performances by freshmen
Kyler Hinken and
Braydon Gregory, the Cougars won game one 3-0. Hinken pitched 7.1 shutout innings while Gregory went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
The Wildcats took game two 10-2 to avoid the sweep.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Game one was scoreless until Gregory broke the deadlock with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
- The Cougars added to their lead in the sixth when Jaeden Rodriguez scored on a sacrifice fly by Gregory.
- Ben Redfield made it a 3-0 SAU lead in the seventh with an RBI single.
- Redfield finished with three hits and a stolen base. Rodriguez and Gregory had two hits apiece while Gregory added two RBIs and a run scored.
- Hinken secured his fifth win of the season after pitching 7.1 shutout innings. The freshman right-hander allowed just three hits and struck out five. Ryan Ruhlman earned the save with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- After being held scoreless in the opener, Indiana Wesleyan got the bats going early in game two. The Wildcats hit a three-run home run in the first inning and added another run in the second to grab a quick 4-0 advantage.
- The visitors pushed five more runs across in the sixth inning to put the game away.
- Spring Arbor had seven hits, including a double by Aiden Brunin. Rodriguez and Jake Zeeb had an RBI hit each.
- John Hojnowski gave up nine runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work. Jack Will pitched 1.2 innings out of the bullpen giving up one unearned run on two hits.

Spring Arbor wraps up the regular season with two more games against Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
