SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team battled back from a narrow first-set loss to take down Grace College 3-1 on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
With the win, Spring Arbor improved to 19-7 overall and 6-7 in the Crossroads League, earning its third victory in the last four matches.
The Cougars nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback in the opening set, erasing an eight-point deficit and taking a 25-24 lead before Grace eked out the frame, 30-28. From there, SAU flipped the momentum and controlled the rest of the match, winning the next three sets behind a balanced offensive effort and dominant play at the net.
Three Cougars ended the afternoon with double-digit kills, including 14 from
Kelsie Lilly.
Kendall Bollenbacher had 13 while adding 18 digs and
Keely Hinzman followed with 12.
Camy Wedge directed the offense with 40 assists and picked up 19 digs. Lilly and Hinzman combined for nine blocks at the net.
SAU returns to action Wednesday night with a road match at No. 20 Taylor University (16-9, 7-6 CL).
