SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor men's basketball opened Crossroads League play in gritty fashion Wednesday night, grinding out a 72-65 home win over Huntington University to secure its fourth straight victory.
Four Cougars finished in double figures, led by
Travis Grayson, who poured in a team-high 20 points while grabbing a game-best nine rebounds.
David Cundiff and
Shane Rykse added 15 points each, and
Dante Favor delivered a strong two-way performance with 10 points, seven boards, and four blocks.
SAU held a narrow 36-34 lead at halftime, but the Foresters stayed in front much of the second half. The Cougars stayed composed and never trailed by more than six. With about five minutes remaining, a pivotal 9-3 run swung momentum back in SAU's favor.
Once ahead, Spring Arbor closed the door at the foul line, finishing a perfect 6-for-6 in the closing moments to seal the league-opening win.
Spring Arbor (4-2, 1-0 CL) now turns its attention to the weekend and a trip to Indianapolis to take on Marian University (0-6, 0-1 CL) on Saturday, Nov. 22 starting at 2 p.m.
