SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team put together a late surge but could not overcome a strong second-half push from No. 1 Grace College, falling 91-79 on Saturday inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
Grace held a slim 45-37 lead at halftime, but the visitors opened the second half on a 10-3 run to quickly create separation. The top-ranked Lancers continued to control the momentum, stretching their advantage to 19 points midway through the period before SAU began chipping away and mounting a late comeback effort.
The Cougars clawed back to within eight points with 1:14 remaining after an
Aden Zank 3-pointer. Grace, however, steadied down the stretch to remain unbeaten on the season.
The loss snaps Spring Arbor's five-game home winning streak as the Cougars move to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in Crossroads League play.
Travis Grayson led the way for SAU, stuffing the stat sheet with 25 points, five assists and six steals.
David Cundiff added 12 points while
