GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor scored twice in the top of the first inning with RBI singles from Brooke Meeker and Payton Grange. However, Concordia answered in the home half of the frame with two unearned runs to tie the score.
  • The Cougars capitalized on a Concordia error in the third to take a 3-2 lead.
  • Pitcher Emilee Underwood held the Concordia lineup in check with four straight scoreless innings, but the Cardinals were able to push another unearned run across in the sixth and send the game to extra innings.
  • In the eighth inning, the SAU offense erupted for five runs, highlighted by an Underwood RBI hit. Underwood would then slam the door shut in the bottom of the frame to record her first victory as a Cougar.
  • Underwood tossed all eight innings in her SAU debut. The sophomore transfer did not allow an earned run and struck out seven batters.
  • Underwood also got the job done at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Meeker also finished with three hits while recording two RBIs and scoring twice.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Concordia jumped on top with four runs in the first inning.
  • The Cardinals held a 4-0 lead until the sixth inning when Spring Arbor plated a pair. Freshman Nicole Barbeau drove in Summer Ambler with a double to center and later came around to score on a base hit by Grange.
  • The Cougars evened the score, 4-4, with two more runs in the top of the seventh. Matajia Cerroni scored on a ground-rule double by Ambler and Barbeau followed with an RBI groundout to bring home Sarah Stewart with the game-tying run.

  • Ava Poulson got the start for SAU in the circle. After surrendering four runs in the opening frame, the freshman pitcher settled in and posted four straight scoreless innings. Ambler worked the final two innings and gave up one run on one hit while fanning two batters.
