GOSHEN, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Goshen College on Friday. The Cougars fell 6-5 in eight innings in game one before suffering a 7-2 setback in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor built a 5-1 lead after five innings. The Cougars scored a run in four of the first five frames, including a home run by Summer Ambler in the third inning.
- Goshen got a run back in the sixth inning, but a SAU responded with an RBI double by Taylor Clark in the seventh to widen the margin back to four, 6-2.
- The Maple Leafs tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run homer, and then completed the comeback with a run in the home half of the eighth.
- Clark continued to swing a hot bat, picking up two more hits. Ambler and Elaina Walker also finished with two hits while Ambler notched her team-best sixth long ball of the season.
- Underwood pitched 7.0 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Goshen grabbed the lead in the third inning after plating four runs.
- Spring Arbor got two runs back in the fourth – highlighted by another Clark RBI double.
- The Maple Leafs answered in the bottom of the fourth when the reigning Crossroads League Player of the Week, Shea VanScoter, hit a two-run home run. The home team added one more run in the fifth inning.
- Clark extended her hitting streak to six games after going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. She has now hit safely in 13 of her last 14 games.
- Ava Poulson surrendered seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work. Ambler added 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
