SPRING ARBOR, Mich. –
Emilee Underwood spun another gem to lead the Spring Arbor University softball team to a 2-1 win over Taylor University in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
It was the 13th complete game of the season for Underwood, who allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings of work.
Taylor was able to avoid the doubleheader sweep and dealt the Cougars a 6-3 setback in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Underwood reached on a TU error and eventually came around to score on a groundout by Matajia Cerroni.
- The Cougars added a key insurance run in the fourth when Lexi Cain delivered a clutch hit to bring home Kennadi Killeen.
- The Trojans plated a run in the sixth, but that was as close as they would get.
- Summer Ambler and Cain had two hits apiece while Killeen recorded a double and a run scored.
- Underwood picked up her eighth win of the season in the circle. She allowed only one run on four hits while fanning three batters.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, but the Cougars got within one run after a two-RBI single by Brooke Meeker.
- An inning later, SAU evened the game. Killeen got things started with a double to left field. Two batters later, she scored on a wild pitch to tie the score, 3-3.
- Taylor answered with three runs in the seventh to regain the lead. The Cougars would threaten in the home half of the inning, but the Trojans held on to split the twinbill.
- Killeen led the way with two hits and a run scored while Meeker drove in a pair.
- Ava Poulson went the distance in the circle. She surrendered six runs on nine hits and struck out three.
