MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team racked up 24 runs on its way to a pair of wins over Bethel University on Tuesday. The Cougars defeated the Pilots 8-3 in game one of the doubleheader before posting a 16-2 victory in game two.
With the wins today, SAU completed the season sweep of Bethel after taking two games from the Pilots in Spring Arbor back on Mar. 18.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Brooke Meeker started things off with a bang, blasting a two-run shot in the first inning for her first long ball of the season.
- After a scoreless second, the Cougars would go on to plate at least one run in every inning the rest of the way, including a two-run homer by Summer Ambler in the sixth.
- Ambler was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Elaina Walker also collected two hits.
- Emilee Underwood, who picked up her ninth win of the season in the circle, pitched all seven innings. She blanked Bethel through the first five frames before the Pilots were able to push three across in the sixth.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor exploded for a season-high 16 runs in the second game of the afternoon. The Cougars scored in every inning except the first, including five runs in the fourth and seven in the sixth.
- Ambler and Meeker each homered for the second time of the day to highlight the offensive eruption. Ambler finished 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored while Meeker also drove in three and scored twice.
- Kennadi Killeen and Payton Grange had two hits apiece with Grange collecting three RBIs. Tiffany Keller also drove in a pair.
- Ava Poulson picked up her sixth victory of the season. She allowed only one earned run over six innings and struck out two.
