ALLENDALE, Mich. – Spring Arbor University's
Camden Khon secured his spot at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships after hitting the A standard in the 1500 meters at the Grand Valley State University Extra Weekend Meet.
Khon was part of a small contingent of runners competing at GVSU on Saturday. The sophomore standout finished second overall out of more than 40 runners in a field that was littered with Division I and II athletes. His crossed the finish line in 3:46.84, which ranks as the second-best performance in SAU history.
Currently, Khon ranks sixth nationally in the event.
Joining Khon at the meet were
Dean Reynolds,
Jacob Singleton,
Chase Hobson and
Kalyb VanWormer. Reynolds and Singleton also ran in the 1500 finishing 21st and 24th, respectively, with times of 3:56.23 and 3:56.96. Hobson placed 10th in the steeplechase with a time of 9:39.66 and VanWormer ran a 1:54.74 in the 800 meters to finish 26th.
