Softball wraps up regular season at MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Spring Arbor University softball team wrapped up the regular season by splitting a doubleheader on the road at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Saturday.
 
The Cougars lost 5-0 in the opener but bounced back with a 12-3 victory in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Mount Vernon Nazarene scored three times in the second inning to take an early lead.
  • That proved to be all the run support MVNU pitcher Nadia Hoffman needed, who shut out the SAU offense over seven innings.
 
 
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor held a 4-3 lead through the first four innings before erupting for eight runs in the top of the fifth inning. Highlighting the frame were RBI hits by Brooke Meeker, Taylor Clark and Kennadi Killeen.
  • Meeker and Killeen finished with two hits and two runs apiece while Killeen also drove in a pair. Clark had three RBIs while Grace Luby scored twice.
  • Ava Poulson earned the win in the circle. The freshman pitcher held MVNU to three runs over five innings of work and struck out two batters.
