Women’s Basketball climbs to No. 18 in national rankings

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University climbed three spots to No. 18 in the fifth edition of the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released by the national office on Wednesday.
 
Head coach John Williams and the Cougars boast a 17-4 overall record – with its only losses coming to Top 10 ranked opponents – and are third in the Crossroads League standings with an 8-3 mark in conference play.
 
Megan Zeitz leads the team and ranks top-10 in the Crossroads League in scoring averaging 14.9 points per game and has handed out a team-best 48 assists. Haven Chapman is averaging 9.7 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game while Ashley Weller is adding 9.0 points per contest.
 
Spring Arbor is one of six Crossroads League teams in the latest rankings. Joining SAU is No. 5 Marian University and No. 6 University of Saint Francis while Huntington University, Taylor University and Indiana Wesleyan University are receiving votes.
 
The Cougars play at home on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. against Mount Vernon Nazarene University (6-15, 2-9 CL).
