SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University's
Summer Ambler and
Emilee Underwood have been named the Crossroads League Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
It is the first career player of the week award for Ambler while Underwood picked up her second as a Cougar.
Spring Arbor opened the 2026 season with four straight wins, sweeping doubleheaders against Oakland City University and Brescia University.
Ambler powered the offense by hitting .533 (8-for-15) with two home runs, one double, six runs batted in and five runs scored. The senior also stole three bases without getting caught and had a trio of multi-hit performances.
Underwood went 2-0 with a 1.57 earned run average and 16 strikeouts over two starts in the circle. The junior pitcher did not issue a walk in her 13.1 innings of work and posted a sub-one WHIP of 0.90.
Up next, Spring Arbor heads south to compete in The Space Coast Spring Games in Florida, where the Cougars will play 10 games from Feb. 27 through Mar. 6.
