MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Crossroads League Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, placing fourth out of 10 teams in the final standings.
The Cougars totaled 81 points, finishing just four points shy of fourth place Taylor University (85). Marian University claimed the team title with 236 points, followed by Indiana Wesleyan University in second with 145.
Spring Arbor highlighted the weekend with two event championships.
Elijah Dyer captured the conference title in the 60-meter hurdles with his first-place finish. The Cougars also struck gold in the 4x800-meter relay as the quartet of
Jacob Singleton,
Jack Bruder,
Camden Khon and
Dean Reynolds raced to victory. The group not only secured the league crown but also set a new school record and hit the A standard to automatically qualify for the NAIA national championships.
Reynolds added another All-Crossroads League performance in the 800 meters, finishing second in the event, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Dyer,
Shane Paterson, Reynolds and
Caden Kyser also earned all-league recognition placing second. That group met the NAIA B standard with a time of 3:21.02 to qualify for nationals and it is the third-best performance in SAU history.
