Khon Collects National Honors After Standout Weekend

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Fresh off earning Crossroads League Athlete of the Week honors, Spring Arbor University junior Camden Khon has been named both the NAIA Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week following a pair of standout performances across two meets last weekend.

The USTFCCCA honor marks the first time an SAU men's or women's track athlete has received the recognition during the indoor season.

Khon delivered wins on back-to-back days, beginning Friday at the Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invitational, where he anchored the Cougars' distance medley relay to a first-place finish in 10:07.68. The time ranks second on the NAIA performance list this season.

Less than 24 hours later, Khon took on an elite field at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational. Racing in the open mile, Khon surged from sixth place with a lap remaining and closed in a blistering 45.80 over the final 320 meters at the Loftus Sports Center to claim the win in 4:03.99. The performance met the NAIA A standard, shattered SAU's school record by nearly six seconds, and currently ranks 12th on the NAIA's all-time indoor list.

Khon is now nationally ranked across multiple events, sitting just 0.02 seconds off the NAIA seasonal lead in the mile while also ranking second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.20 from earlier this season.

Spring Arbor travels to Marion, Indiana for the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7. The Crossroads League Championships follow on Feb. 20-21.
