ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's track & field team split competition sites on Saturday, competing at Indiana Wesleyan University's Midwest Classic while sending a select group of athletes to the Michigan Invitational held at the University of Michigan, where the Cougars delivered a pair of national-qualifying performances.
The Michigan Invitational provided the day's top highlights, beginning with
Quintin Williams turning in a standout showing in the 60-meter dash. Williams clocked a 6.79 in the preliminary round to win his heat, break his own school record, and hit the NAIA B standard. He followed that performance by finishing second overall in the finals with a time of 6.81. Williams becomes the first Cougar to qualify for nationals in the 60 since Dewayne Gray in 2014.
Also at Michigan,
Dean Reynolds delivered an elite performance in the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:09.42 to meet the A standard. The time currently ranks as the ninth-fastest in the nation this season.
The Cougars' 4x400 meter relay team of
Caden Kyser,
Johnathon Potter,
Shane Paterson, and
Elijah Dyer added another strong result, finishing third with a time of 3:20.54, the third-fastest mark in program history.
Meanwhile, at the Midwest Classic in Marion, Indiana, Spring Arbor posted three new Top 10 performances in school history.
