Budd Breaks School Record as SAU Women Shine in Split-Squad Action

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's track & field team competed in split-squad action on Saturday, sending athletes to Indiana Wesleyan University's Midwest Classic and the Michigan Invitational held at the University of Michigan.

The highlight of the day came at the Michigan Invitational, where Alyssa Budd broke her own school record in the long jump. Budd finished third in the event with a leap of 5.60 meters (18' 4.5"), narrowly missing the NAIA B standard by just one centimeter.

Also competing in Ann Arbor, the 4x400 meter relay team of Hope Taylor, Kylie Brown, Hannah Garbine and Tanana Emmendorfer delivered a strong performance, posting the second-fastest time in program history. The group crossed the finish line in 4:01.75 to place fourth overall in the event.

At the Midwest Classic in Marion, Indiana, Allison Teed highlighted the Cougars' efforts with a personal-best performance in the 60 meter hurdles. Teed clocked a 9.15 in the prelims, the second-best mark in SAU history, before finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 9.45.

Spring Arbor now turns its focus to the Crossroads League Championships, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Indiana.
