Dee’s Big Day Powers Baseball to Sweep at Saint Francis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team picked up a pair of road wins on Saturday, defeating the University of Saint Francis 13-2 and 11-4 to secure a series victory.
 
The Cougars win the four-game set three games to one and improve to 23-15 overall and 17-11 in Crossroads League play.
 
In game one, Spring Arbor jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Connor Dee delivered a two-RBI single to open the scoring, and Jack Beyer followed with an RBI hit to make it 3-0.
 
SAU added three more runs in the second, highlighted by an RBI triple from Dee, before breaking the game open with four runs in the fourth.
 
Dee capped off a dominant performance at the plate with a three-run home run in the seventh to trigger the mercy rule. He finished 3-for-5, just a double shy of the cycle, with six RBIs and three runs scored.
 
Joey Tessmer and Brenden Phillips each recorded two hits, while Aiden Brunin crossed the plate four times.
 
On the mound, Jack Will earned the win, allowing just one run over five innings while striking out four.
 
In game two, the Cougars continued their offensive surge, reaching double figures in runs for the fifth time in their last six games.
 
Spring Arbor held a 3-1 lead through four innings before erupting for eight runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
 
Brunin went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Tessmer added a pair of RBIs.
 
Colin Snyder picked up the win on the mound, surrendering just one run on four hits over six innings of work.
 
Spring Arbor will return home to close out the regular season with eight straight games, beginning Wednesday, April 15 with a doubleheader against Lourdes University. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
