SAU Names Parker Saenz First Head Men’s Volleyball Coach

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University has announced the hiring of Parker Saenz as the first head coach of its men's volleyball program.

Saenz brings a wide range of coaching experience across the high school, collegiate and semi-professional levels, along with a strong background in player development, recruiting and program building.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Parker as the leader of our men's volleyball program at Spring Arbor University," said Interim Athletic Director Ryan Marken. "Launching this program is a special moment for our department, and we believe Parker brings the vision, energy, and experience needed to build a strong foundation from day one."

Saenz most recently served as an assistant coach at Davenport University, where he played a key role in player development, scouting and recruiting efforts while helping foster a competitive and positive team culture.

Prior to his time at Davenport, Saenz was the head men's volleyball coach at Siena Heights University, where he led all aspects of the program.

Saenz also brings extensive club and grassroots experience, serving as a head coach with MICA Volleyball Club from 2017 to 2025, where he focused on skill development and helping athletes navigate the recruiting process. He has also been involved with Midwest Mak VLA as both a player and team manager, handling operations, strategy and athlete development.

In addition, Saenz has experience as an assistant coach at Adrian College and as a head coach at the high school level, giving him a well-rounded perspective on athlete development.

A former collegiate player, Saenz is passionate about mentoring student-athletes and building a program centered on discipline, growth and a positive team culture.

"Parker's passion for developing student-athletes, not just as volleyball players but most importantly as disciples of Jesus and creating a culture of excellence aligns perfectly with our mission," added Marken. "We look forward to seeing him shape this program and make history with our first men's volleyball team."

Saenz earned his bachelor's degree in digital media from Siena Heights University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Leadership Strategies from Davenport University.

Spring Arbor will begin its inaugural season in the Spring of 2027 and compete as a member of the Crossroads League.
