SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team kept its postseason hopes alive with a thrilling 4-3 walk-off victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday in Crossroads League Tournament play.
Connor Dee was the hero, launching a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth after already going deep earlier in the game – a solo homer in the eighth that gave the Cougars a 3-1 lead.
Spring Arbor carried that 3-1 advantage into the ninth inning before Mount Vernon Nazarene rallied with a pair of solo home runs to even the score at 3-3.
In the bottom half, Dee delivered once again, crushing the game-winning home run to send the Cougars into the next round.
The Cougars also received a dominant outing from starting pitcher
Colin Snyder, who allowed just one run on three hits over seven strong innings.
Lucas Dawson earned the win in relief to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the season.
Spring Arbor will return to action on Thursday, April 30, with its opponent yet to be determined as tournament play continues.
