SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team dropped a 15-5 decision to No. 1 ranked Taylor University on Thursday in Crossroads League Tournament action at Hank Burbridge Field.
The Cougars came out swinging, erupting for five runs in the top of the first inning to grab an early advantage.
Brenden Phillips provided the big blow with a grand slam to put SAU in front 5-0.
Taylor responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, answering with a grand slam of its own.
The Trojans continued to build momentum from there, scoring multiple runs in three of the next four innings to take control of the game.
Spring Arbor will look to keep its season alive when it faces off against the University of Saint Francis in an elimination game on Friday at 11 a.m.
