UPLAND, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team picked up a strong Crossroads League road victory on Tuesday, defeating Taylor University 6-1.
The Cougars improve to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Spring Arbor set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Aziz Madatov and
Andrei Negrut secured a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Jaume Riera Galindo and
Daniel Rodriguez Fortes matched that score at No. 2.
MacKinley McNalley and
Jakub Sevcik completed the sweep with a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 3.
SAU carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches.
Madatov earned a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at the top spot, and Rodriguez Fortes followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2. McNalley added another point with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4, while
Caleb Kaytar secured a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 5.
Miguel Carvalho rounded out the scoring with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Taylor picked up its lone point at No. 3 singles, where
Jakub Sevcik fell in a three-set match.
