SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Following a undefeated start to the season, the Spring Arbor University men's soccer team has moved into the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll at No. 20, the national office announced Wednesday.
 
The Cougars, who were receiving votes in the first regular-season poll, are one of two new teams to enter the Top 25 this week. Spring Arbor also received one first-place vote in the latest poll.
 
Oklahoma Wesleyan remained at No. 1, followed by Indiana Tech, Cumberland, MidAmerica Nazarene and William Carey.
 
Spring Arbor's move into the rankings comes after a 7-0 start that has included wins over Cornerstone, Michigan-Dearborn, Governors State, Albion, Eastern Oregon, Northwestern Ohio and Saint Xavier.
 
The Cougars have outscored their opponents 21-5 through their first seven matches, scoring at least three goals five times. SAU's start has been highlighted by a 3-1 victory over Eastern Oregon, which continues to receive votes in the national poll, and a 4-0 shutout of Saint Xavier.
 
Spring Arbor is one of seven Crossroads League teams represented in the latest rankings. Indiana Wesleyan climbed to No. 15 and Bethel is No. 18. Grace dropped out of the rankings but is receiving votes, along with Mount Vernon Nazarene, Taylor and Marian.
 
Since the poll was compiled, Spring Arbor improved to 8-0 with a 2-1 road victory over Aquinas on Wednesday. Leo Stravato opened the scoring just before halftime before Micah Vasey delivered the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
 
Caleb Swartzendruber has led the Spring Arbor attack with five goals this season, while Ian Lama has contributed four goals. Vasey and Ryan Nees have added three goals apiece while Vasey has been credited with seven assists.
 
Spring Arbor closes out its non-conference schedule Saturday, Sept. 19 with a road matchup against No. 12 Olivet Nazarene University. The Tigers made one of the biggest moves in this week's poll, climbing nine spots from No. 21 to No. 12.
